An individual has been arrested with 2kg of heroin, firearms and a large quantity of ammunition following a search of a house in Webada, Kadawatha.
The suspect was arrested based on information received by officers of the Peliyagoda Western Province North Divisional Crime Division.
Police seized 2kg of heroin, five locally manufactured firearms capable of firing T-56 rounds, and two locally made “Galkatas” capable of firing 12-bore ammunition from the suspect’s possession.
More than 600 rounds of ammunition of various types and two pairs of handcuffs were also taken into police custody.
The arrested suspect was produced before the Kadawatha Magistrate’s Court, following which a detention order was obtained for further questioning.
Further investigations into the incident are being conducted by the Peliyagoda Western Province North Divisional Crime Division.
