A consignment containing 3.599kg of kush cannabis and 2.409kg of hashish, allegedly imported into Sri Lanka through a private courier service, has been seized following information provided by a suspect held under a detention order, police stated.
The suspect was arrested by the Western Province North Crime Division on September 19, in connection with the possession of narcotics and was subsequently detained under a detention order while investigations were underway.
Based on information provided by the suspect, investigating officers, with the assistance of Customs officials, recovered the consignment from Customs custody and took it into police custody yesterday.
The Western Province North Crime Division is conducting further investigations into the incident.
