The Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) says it will lodge complaints with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) over the involvement of Avant-Garde in maritime security services previously carried out by Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Limited (RALL) in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Navy.
COPE Chairman Dr. Nishantha Samaraweera said the government had incurred a significant financial loss as a result of involving Avant-Garde in the maritime security operations.
Officials of Rakna Arakshaka Lanka were recently summoned before the COPE Committee, where the Chairman questioned them regarding the decision to involve Avant-Garde in the maritime security services.
COPE member MP Dayasiri Jayasekara also questioned whose requirement had led to the agreements being entered into to involve Avant-Garde in the maritime security operations.
Dr. Samaraweera further said steps would be taken to terminate all agreements related to the company, explore the possibility of recovering the financial loss incurred by the government, and take legal action against all those who supported the arrangement.
