The government has officially launched the GovHR system, a digital platform aimed at modernising and streamlining human resource management across the public service.

The system was launched under the patronage of Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government Prof. Chandana Aberathne.

According to the Ministry of Public Administration, GovHR will digitise the management of information on public sector employees and streamline human resource administration and service-related processes across government institutions.

The Ministry said the system is designed to reduce delays and inefficiencies associated with traditional paper-based processes by bringing the entire human resource management cycle under a single centralised digital platform.

This includes the recruitment, confirmation, promotions and transfers of public servants, as well as local and overseas training, grievance management, performance evaluations and retirement.

The Ministry noted that arrangements have also been made to directly link the system with other relevant government institutions, enabling information to be shared more efficiently.

GovHR is expected to strengthen transparency, efficiency and accountability across the public service while providing reliable, data-driven information to support institutional and national policy decisions, the Ministry added.
