Nine arrested in Jaffna with sharp weapons, Rs. 900,000 cash
Jaffna Police have arrested nine people, including a woman, after they were allegedly found travelling in a suspicious manner while carrying sharp weapons and Rs. 900,000 in cash.
The arrests were made after a police patrol team stopped and searched the group near Jaffna town. The suspects were travelling in a car and two motorcycles at the time.
Police said several sharp weapons and Rs. 900,000 were found inside the car and taken into custody.
Following further investigations, police arrested the nine suspects and seized the car and two motorcycles used by the group.
The suspects were produced before the Jaffna Magistrate’s Court and were ordered to be remanded.
Jaffna Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
