Today’s quarter-final action of the Men's Asian Games cricket competition has been curtailed by persistant rain in Nagoya, with both Pakistan's match with Hong Kong, China and India's meeting with Afghanistan abandoned.

As the higher-seeded teams at the tournament, India and Pakistan progress to the semi-finals.

India will meet take on the winner of Sri Lanka v Nepal on Tuesday morning, while Pakistan play the victors of the Bangladesh-Malaysia match held on Tuesday afternoon.

Hong Kong, China had come back from an opening defeat to Malaysia, beating Oman to squeeze into the quarter-finals to set up their Pakistan encounter, only to watch torrential rain and an early abandonment while at the Korogi Sports on Monday morning.

With little respite from above, Afghanistan learned their fate soon after, having qualified for the quarter-finals by finishing second behind Nepal in Group A of the tournament.

India are defending champions in the event, having won gold in Hangzhou three years ago.
