The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a Rs. 2.89 billion contract, excluding VAT, for the third phase of the Baseline Road extension project.
The project will cover the 0.86-kilometre stretch from the Kirulapone Junction to Dutugemunu Street on the Colombo–Horana Road, which will be developed as a six-lane roadway.
The development is to include an underpass, signalised intersections, pedestrian facilities and improvements to the drainage system.
Seven bids were received under the National Competitive Bidding process. Following an evaluation, a private contractor was identified as the lowest substantially responsive bidder.
Accordingly, Cabinet approval has been granted to award the contract for Rs. 2.89 billion, excluding VAT, on a proposal submitted by the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development.
