Several international cricket stars, including Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga, are among the 200 players entered for the International League T20 (ILT20) Season 5 Player Auction, scheduled to be held at the ICC Academy Indoors in Dubai tomorrow (01).
Wanindu Hasaranga is among the players listed in the top US$80,000 base-price bracket, alongside high-profile names such as Babar Azam, Phil Salt, Tom Banton, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Liam Livingstone, Alzarri Joseph and Faf du Plessis.
Other Sri Lankan players included in the auction pool are Dasun Shanaka, Avishka Fernando and Kusal Perera. They are among the international players hoping to secure places for the fifth season of the tournament.
A total of 200 players from 23 countries have entered the auction, including players from 11 ICC Full Member nations, as well as Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
ILT20 Season 5 will be played in the United Arab Emirates from November 22 to December 20.
The auction features three base-price categories of US$80,000, US$40,000 and US$10,000.
Each franchise will enter the auction with a purse of US$1.3 million, in addition to any funds remaining from the US$700,000 allocated for pre-auction signings.
MI Emirates will have the largest purse at US$1.39 million, followed by Abu Dhabi Knight Riders with US$1.365 million. Desert Vipers and Gulf Giants will each have US$1.305 million, while Dubai Capitals and Sharjah Warriorz will enter with US$1.3 million each.
Teams will also be permitted to use one Right to Match option on a UAE player who represented them during Season 4 or in the recently concluded ILT20 Development Tournament.
Each franchise must have between 18 and 23 players, with specific requirements for players from ICC Full Member and Associate nations, as well as the UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
