The National Organiser of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, who had been remanded over alleged money laundering in connection with the Airbus case, has been ordered to be released on bail by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court.
Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena ordered that MP Namal Rajapaksa be released on a cash bail of Rs. 500,000 and two surety bails amounting to Rs. 100 million each.
The court also imposed a travel ban on the suspect and directed that the relevant order be communicated to the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration.
As an additional bail condition, the Magistrate also ordered MP Rajapaksa not to interfere with or influence witnesses in the case.
The bail order was issued while Rajapaksa was being held in remand custody over the money laundering allegations related to the Airbus case.
However, MP Namal Rajapaksa will remain in remand custody as he was also yesterday (29) ordered remanded in connection with another case related to the controversial Airbus deal.
Accordingly, the court yesterday (29) ordered him to be remanded until October 13 in connection with that case.
Meanwhile, Namal Rajapaksa had been remanded until October 06 in connection with the case filed over the Krrish deal.
