
Sri Lanka posted 165 for nine in 20 overs against Bangladesh in the Bronze Medal Match of the 2026 Asian Games at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Japan, setting Bangladesh a target of 166 runs.
Sri Lanka's innings was anchored by Tharindu Ratnayake, who produced an explosive 65 off 32 balls, hitting seven fours and five sixes. His innings provided the momentum Sri Lanka needed after a difficult start.
Skipper Sahan Arachchige also played an important innings, scoring 31 off 35 balls with three fours. Captain Arachchige and Ratnayake added 93 runs, helping Sri Lanka recover from early setbacks and build a competitive total in the quest to win the Bronze Medal.
Ashen Bandara added 18 off 24 balls, while Sri Lanka lost wickets at regular intervals before finishing on 165 for 9.
For Bangladesh, Mahedi Hasan was the pick of the bowlers, taking two wickets for 19 runs from four overs. Aliss Al Islam, Rishad Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman claimed one wicket each.
The bronze-medal clash brings together two teams that suffered semi-final defeats. Sri Lanka were beaten by India by 124 runs, while Bangladesh lost to Pakistan by six wickets in a rain-shortened contest.
