Six individuals arrested while being part of a protest organized by the People’s Struggle Movement have been brought before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (4).
The protest march was organized in opposition to the government’s tax policies and the rising cost of living. It was launched last afternoon (03) near Campbell Place in Borella.
The protesters marched from the Borella Junction through Maradana and proceeded to the area in front of the Colombo Central Bus Stand in Pettah, where they held a demonstration.
The six individuals were arrested while the protest was underway.
Police arrested them on allegations of participating in an unlawful public gathering and using loudspeakers without obtaining the required permits.
