
Sri Lanka has recorded a slight decline in foreign tourist arrivals in September 2026, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
A total of 158,557 international tourists had visited the country during the month, marking a 0.26% decrease compared to September 2025.
According to the SLTDA, India remained the largest source market, with 51,931 arrivals, accounting for 32% of total tourist arrivals in September.
China ranked second with 11,722 visitors, followed by Australia with 10,951, the United Kingdom with 10,738 and Germany with 7,277 arrivals during the month.
Meanwhile, the total number of tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka from January 1 to September 30, 2026, reached 1,693,679, the SLTDA said.
