The 2026 Colombo International Book Fair, which commenced on September 25, concluded today (October 4) after drawing large crowds over its 10-day run.

The annual book fair was held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) premises in Colombo, attracting visitors from across the island. TV Derana served as the official media sponsor of the event.

One of the highlights of this year’s exhibition was the opportunity given to school and university students who successfully passed a news-reading screen test conducted at the Derana Zone at the exhibition premises. The selected students were given the opportunity to present news on Ada Derana news broadcasts.

The Chairman of the Sri Lanka Book Publishers’ Association, Athula Jayakody said that more than 2.5 million people had visited the exhibition during the 10-day period.

Describing the event as a highly successful book fair, Jayakody said preliminary reports indicated that book sales had reached 95 percent.
He also credited TV Derana’s media sponsorship with providing significant publicity for the event.

“It was a very successful book fair. We have received reports that book sales reached 95 percent. Since TV Derana provided media sponsorship, the book fair received a great deal of publicity,” he said.
