
The Department of Meteorology has issued a warm weather advisory for several parts of the country, warning that the heat index could reach the ‘Caution’ level in some areas tomorrow (06).
The advisory, issued by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre at 4.00 p.m. today (05) will be in effect till tomorrow.
According to the advisory, the heat index—the temperature felt by the human body—is expected to rise to the ‘Caution’ level at some locations in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Monaragala District, during the daytime.
The general public in the affected areas has been advised to take necessary precautions to minimise the effects of increased heat, particularly during the daytime.
