Bridge collapse disrupts traffic on Galaha–Deltota Road

Traffic on the Galaha–Deltota Road has been completely disrupted after a section of a bridge in the Deltota area collapsed amid heavy rainfall.

 

Police have advised motorists and the public using the route to take alternative roads.

 

The incident occurred while development work was being carried out at the Galo Oya Bridge on the Peradeniya–Deltota (B364) Road, with the section on the southern bank of the bridge reportedly collapsing.

 

Peradeniya Police have taken steps to inform the Road Development Authority (RDA) and other relevant authorities about the incident.
