The Secretary to the Ministry of Energy has notified the relevant companies to ensure the maintenance of minimum fuel stocks in Sri Lanka, Subject Minister Anura Karunathilaka told Parliament today (06).
Minister Karunathilaka said arrangements would be made to ensure that operations continue accordingly in the future.
“What we can do in this regard is to have the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation bear this burden,” Minister Karunathilaka said.
He noted that the share of diesel supplied to the market by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation had increased significantly, from around 54% previously to 82% at present.
“The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation currently holds an 82% share of the market,” the Energy Minister added.
