Sri Lanka and Thailand have agreed to enter into a visa exemption agreement for holders of ordinary passports, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and facilitating travel between the two countries.
Under the proposed agreement, citizens of both countries with valid ordinary passports will be able to enter, leave and transit through the respective countries without obtaining a visa in advance for tourism purposes.
Travellers will be permitted to stay for up to 30 days per visit, with a cumulative stay of up to 90 days within a 180-day period.
The visa exemption will not cover employment, education, media-related activities or other purposes requiring prior approval.
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal submitted by the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs to sign the visa exemption agreement between the Governments of Sri Lanka and Thailand.
