Indictments were served at the Matara High Court today (07) against eight suspects, including former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon, in connection with the fatal shooting that took place on December 31, 2023, at a hotel in the Pelana area of Weligama.
Former IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon and the other seven suspects appeared before the Matara High Court today in connection with the case, said Ada Derana reporter.
The investigation into the case is being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and the case was taken up before Matara High Court Judge Nandana Amarasena.
The court ordered the release of all eight suspects, including Deshabandu Tennakoon, on a cash bail of Rs. 250,000 each and four personal bail bonds of Rs. 5 million each.
It was also stipulated as a condition of bail that two of the four sureties must be close relatives.
The case is scheduled to be called again on November 27.
