
A person who allegedly aided and abetted the preparation of forged documents and a fake passport to facilitate the overseas travel of the main suspect wanted in connection with the shooting incident of a lawyer and his wife in Akuregoda, Thalangama, has been arrested by the Western Province South Crimes Division.
The double murder took place on February 13, 2026, in front of a supermarket in the Akuregoda area within the Thalangama Police Division. The Western Province South Crime Division subsequently launched an extensive investigation into the incident.
Accordingly, based on information uncovered during further investigations, police officers arrested the suspect yesterday (07).
The suspect had allegedly provided fingerprints to facilitate the preparation of a fake passport for the main suspect to travel overseas. He was arrested for allegedly aiding and abetting the preparation of forged documents.
The arrested suspect is a 45-year-old resident of Minuwangoda, according to police.
The Western Province South Crime Division is continuing further investigations into the double murder.
