Petition filed seeking order to produce Gnanasara Thero before court in robes
A Fundamental Rights (FR) petition has been filed with the Supreme Court, seeking an order directing prison authorities to ensure that Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero—who is currently serving a prison sentence—appears in his monastic robes when being produced before courts for other cases.
The petition was filed by Mr. Shantha Jayathilaka, a retired Air Force officer.
The Commissioner General of Prisons, the Secretary to the Ministry of Justice, and the Attorney General have been named as respondents in the petition.
