
The 25-year-old suspect, arrested by police for allegedly transferring USD 25 million in foreign currency overseas via Telegraphic Transfers under the guise of importing goods, has been remanded until October 15 by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
The suspect, a resident of Wellampitiya, was arrested by officers of the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) yesterday (7).
He is accused of sending Rs. 7.5 billion (USD 25 million) overseas through six Sri Lankan shell companies, using Telegraphic Transfers from commercial banks from January 2024 to July 2025 without importing any goods.
