
The main suspect and gunman allegedly involved in the shooting at a restaurant in the Nagoda area of Kalutara last morning (09) has been arrested.
The restaurant owner was killed in the shooting, while his wife sustained gunshot injuries and was admitted to the Nagoda Teaching Hospital in Kalutara for treatment.
The arrest was carried out by officers of the Special Task Force (STF), and the main suspect was subsequently handed over to the Valaichchenai Police Station for further investigations.
The suspect was apprehended at a roadblock in Navaladi Junction after the STF officers intercepted and searched a bus travelling from the Colombo Central Bus Stand toward Batticaloa, which he was using to flee the area.
At the time of his arrest, officers reportedly recovered 40 grams of ‘Ice’ (crystal methamphetamine), a smartphone and six SIM cards in his possession.
