
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment says that so far there have been no reports of any Sri Lankan nationals being affected by the flooding reported in Nepal’s Gorkha District.
The Ministry stated that the Sri Lankan Embassy in Kathmandu is maintaining close contact with the Sri Lankan community in the Gorkha District, located in Nepal’s central region, regarding the prevailing situation.
The Embassy is also taking steps to regularly provide Sri Lankans with the latest updates on the situation in the affected areas, the Ministry said.
Meanwhile, the Embassy has issued advisories to Sri Lankan nationals regarding travel to the affected areas, the Ministry added.
Flooding reportedly struck several areas of Nepal’s Gorkha District again in the early hours of today (11), leaving several people missing.
Nepalese media have also reported that numerous roads, houses and bridges have been destroyed by the flooding.
