
The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has issued landslide early warnings for several districts due to prevailing rainy weather.
The warnings are valid for a 24-hour period from 4.00 p.m. today (11) until 4.00 p.m. tomorrow (12).
The warning levels and affected areas are as follows:
Level 2 – Warning (Yellow)
Kegalle District: Ruwanwella, Bulathkohupitiya and Mawanella
Level 1 – Awareness (Amber)
- Badulla District: Ella and Passara
- Kalutara District: Walallavita and Bulathsinhala
- Kandy District: Thumpane, Yatinuwara, Hatharaliyadda and Doluwa
- Kegalle District: Aranayake, Dehiowita, Yatiyanthota, Rambukkana, Kegalle and Warakapola
- Kurunegala District: Mawathagama, Mallawapitiya and Alawwa
- Matale District: Matale, Rattota and Ambanganga Korale
- Nuwara Eliya District: Hanguranketha
- Ratnapura District: Imbulpe, Nivithigala, Ayagama, Kuruwita, Weligepola, Eheliyagoda, Kalawana and Ratnapura.
Disaster management authorities have urged residents and motorists in the affected areas to remain highly vigilant, as continuous rainfall could trigger landslides, earth slips and rockfalls.
