
The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has extended the landslide early warnings issued for several districts in view of the prevailing rainy weather conditions.
The updated warnings will remain in effect for 24 hours, from 7.00 p.m. today (11) until 7.00 p.m. tomorrow (12).
Level 2 – Alert (Amber)
Colombo District: Padukka
Kegalle District: Bulathkohupitiya, Mawanella and Ruwanwella
Level 1 – Awareness (Yellow)
Badulla District: Ella and Passara
Kalutara District: Walallavita, Bulathsinhala and Ingiriya
Kandy District: Hatharaliyadda, Yatinuwara, Thumpane and Doluwa
Kegalle District: Kegalle, Aranayake, Rambukkana, Yatiyanthota, Dehiowita and Warakapola
Kurunegala District: Mawathagama, Alawwa and Mallawapitiya
Matale District: Matale, Ambanganga Korale and Rattota
Nuwara Eliya District: Hanguranketha
Ratnapura District: Imbulpe, Kuruwita, Eheliyagoda, Weligeepola, Ayagama, Kalawana, Nivithigala and Ratnapura
The Disaster Management authorities have urged residents and motorists in the above-mentioned areas to remain vigilant, as continuous rainfall could trigger earth slips, rockfalls and landslides.
