The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has ordered that the case concerning Shashi Weerawansa, the wife of former Minister Wimal Weerawansa, be called again on October 26.

She was sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of possessing an unauthorised diplomatic passport.

During the proceedings, the court was informed that the prison sentence imposed on her had been upheld by the Colombo High Court and that an appeal against the ruling had been filed with the Supreme Court.

The case was taken up today (12) before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama. Shashi Weerawansa, who is currently out on bail, also appeared in court, said Ada Derana reporter.

Accordingly, the court ordered that the case be called again on October 26 to present the relevant proceedings in the Supreme Court appeal.
