At least fifteen houses in Grandpass gutted in fire
Fifteen unauthorised shanty houses were reportedly completely destroyed in a sudden fire that broke out near the Mahawatta Railway Lane in the Grandpass police area, Colombo.
The fire erupted at around this afternoon (13), and reports indicate that nearly 21 shanties in the area were affected by the fire.
Four fire trucks were deployed to extinguish the blaze, and the fire has now been fully brought under control.
Ada Derana reporter said that while there was damage to property, no loss of life or injuries were reported from the blaze.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, while investigations are continuing.
