Heavy rain shuts Gregory Lake boat rides...

Boating activities at Gregory Lake in Nuwara Eliya on Tuesday (04) were temporarily suspended after heavy rainfall caused water levels at the reservoir to rise rapidly. The Nuwara Eliya Disaster Management Unit said the Gregory Lake boat jetty was closed from 4.00 p.m. as a precautionary measure due to the increased water level. The Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council has also temporarily suspended boat rides at Gregory Lake citing safety concerns caused by prevailing adverse weather conditions and dense fog.
