4h ago

An observation tour was conducted to explore the development of Elephant Rock area in Arugam Bay as a major tourist attraction, as part of the government's initiative to transform Sri Lanka’s East Coast into a 365-day tourism destination. The initiative aims to develop the infrastructure needed to promote tourism across the entire Eastern Province throughout the year, moving beyond Arugam Bay’s traditional seasonal focus on surfing.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath, Deputy Minister of Tourism Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe, Deputy Minister of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment Wasantha Piyatissa, and several government officials participated in the observation tour.
