Sri Lanka marks World Environment Day…

Sri Lanka commemorated World Environment Day 2026 at Temple Trees on Friday (05), under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, highlighting the government's commitment to climate action and sustainable development. Several environmental initiatives were announced, including the declaration of five new reserved forests and the designation of protected natural areas across the country. The event also saw the launch of environmental publications, recognition of eco-friendly innovations, and the presentation of a carbon-neutral certification for the national commemoration programme.
