Siam Dhamma Pada Yatra…

To mark the 273rd anniversary of the establishment of the Siam Nikaya Upasampada (Higher Ordination) tradition in Sri Lanka, a group of 56 Buddhist monks from Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar commenced the “Siam Dhamma Pada Yatra” from Gokanna Rajamaha Viharaya in Trincomalee to Kandy. The pilgrimage is being conducted for the second time, commemorating the historic restoration of the Upasampada lineage in Sri Lanka. As part of the pilgrimage, the monks are scheduled to walk from Kurunegala to Ridigama Rajamaha Viharaya (Ridi Viharaya) today (26), continuing their spiritual journey towards Kandy.
