‘Navodaya Gama’ housing project…

The ‘Navodaya Gama’ housing project, constructed for 50 families from Poonagala and Kabaragala who lost their homes in the 2023 Kabaragala Mountain landslide in Poonagala, Bandarawela, was officially handed over today (28) under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Constructed under the Government’s “A Thriving Nation - A Beautiful Life” policy, the project aims to provide the affected families with secure homes, land ownership and a dignified living environment. The project comprises 50 fully equipped houses, each measuring 550 square feet and built on a 10-perch plot, with each house featuring two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom. Approximately Rs. 3.2 million was spent on the construction of each house.
