Sri Lanka skipper Dinesh Chandimal will miss the third Test against England - starting on November 23 in Colombo - owing to the groin injury he sustained during the first fixture. He had also missed the second Test after suffering a grade-one tear.
“Dinesh Chandimal, who missed the 2nd test due to an injury will not take part in the 3rd Test match vs England, as he is still recovering from the injury,” an official SLC release stated.
SLC has also named a new replacement for Chandimal - bringing in Danushka Gunathilaka, who has made five Test appearances. Charith Asalanka, the uncapped youngster who was called up as cover in the second game, will not be part of the squad for the third game.
In the second Test, Sri Lanka opted to rope in Roshen Silva who scored a fine first-innings 85.
