Rumesh Ratnayake has been selected as the interim coach of the National Team for ‘Sri Lanka Tour of Australia 2022’, the national cricket board said today.
He was appointed by the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket in consultation with the Technical Advisory Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket.
Ratnayake will not travel to Australia with the team but will join before the 1st T20I game, as he is currently in self-isolation having tested positive for Covid-19.
He was also the interim coach of the Sri Lankan team for the home series against Zimbabwe played this month.
The squad taking part in the upcoming Sri Lanka Tour of Australia was announced by the Selection Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) earlier today.
Minister of Youth and Sports Namal Rajapaksa had approved the squad named by the national cricket board.
Sri Lanka will play five T20Is during the tour.
The matches will be played across three venues, the Sydney Cricket Ground, Manuka Oval, and Melbourne Cricket Ground, starting from the 11th of February, 2022.
