Sri Lanka have set a target of 269 for the visitors after scoring 268 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in the first ODI against Afghanistan today (02 June).

The Lions started cautiously after Afghanistan won the toss and elected to field first, however lost opener Dimuth Karunaratne in the second over after he smashed a four. Sri Lanka lost their next wicket, Kusal Mendis in the eighth over.

Charith Asalanka was the star of the show for the hosts, remaining unbeaten at a score of 91. His 99-run partnership with Dhananjaya de Silva salvaged the game for Sri Lanka, who were crumbling at a score of 84 for the loss of four.

Afghanistan now have a score of 269 to chase down, with medium-fast bowler Kasun Rajitha opening the stage for the hosts.
