Sri Lanka amassed 314 runs and have lost four wickets after 90 overs at the end of Day 1 of second Test against Bangladesh being played in Chattogram. Dhananjaya de Silva and Dinesh Chandimal remain on the crease having scored 15 and 34 runs respectively at the day end.
The openers put up a half century before Nishan Madushka was dismissed for 57. Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis batted positively but both fell short of their tons. Angelo Mathews looked a little off colour and was dimissed for 23 off the bowling of Mehidy. Dhananjaya and Chandimal have looked solid and kept out everything thrown at them.
Earlier today, Sri Lanka’s skipper Dhananjaya de Silva won the toss and elected to bat first in their second and final Test against Bangladesh. Sri Lanka lead the two-match series 1-0 after thumping the hosts by 328 runs in Sylhet.
The visitors brought Asitha Fernando for the injured Kasun Rajitha in their only change from the series opener.
Newly minted Bangladeshi lawmaker and veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan returned for the hosts, who also handed a Test debut to medium pacer Hasan Mahmud.
Shoriful Islam and Nahid Rana made way for the duo.
