Sri Lanka downed New Zealand in the first T20I held at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Dambulla.

A clinical bowling show helped the hosts bundle out the Kiwis for 135.

Dunith Wellalage claimed 3/20 whereas Nuwan Thushara, Wanindu Hasaranga and Matheesha Pathirana managed two scalps each.

In response, Sri Lanka chased down the 136-run target in 19 overs for the loss of 6 wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. 

Charith Asalanka (35) and Kamindu Mendis (23) top scored for the Lankans while Zakary Foulkes picked up 3 wickets for the visitors.
