Pathum Nissanka ruled out of first Test against Australia

Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka has been ruled out of the first Test in the home series against Australia. 

The first match of the “Warne-Murali Test Series” between Sri Lanka and Australia will be played from 29th January to 2nd February, while the second Test match will be played from 6th to 10th February 2025 at GICS, Galle. 

Nissanka sustained a groin injury while batting in an ODI against New Zealand at Auckland earlier this month.

The 26-year-old was included in the Test squad captained by Dhananjaya de Silva subject to fitness, however, it was later announced that he is not fit to take part in the first Test starting on Wednesday (29).
