Sri Lanka has won the toss and elected to bat against Australia in their second one-day international at Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday. Sri Lanka is currently at 121/2 at the end of 25 overs.

 

T.M. Dilshan was dismissed at 47 by Hauritz, while Mahela Jayawardene was out for just 5 runs. Both dismissals were due to LBW.

 

Ricky Ponting returned to captain the side after resting from Wednesday’s shock loss to the tourists at the MCG.

 

Ponting has replaced the injured Shaun Marsh in the starting line-up with Callum Ferguson carrying the drinks while Clint McKay has come in for John Hastings.

 

The other change sees Xavier Doherty left out of the side despite impressive debut figures of 4 for 46 with Australia recalling senior spinner Nathan Hauritz.

 

Australia: Ricky Ponting (c), Shane Watson, Brad Haddin, Michael Clarke, Cameron White, Michael Hussey, Steven Smith, Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Hauritz, Peter Siddle, Clint McKay. 12th man: Callum Ferguson.

 

Sri Lanka: Kumar Sangakkara (c), Upul Tharanga, Tillekeratne Dilshan, Mahela Jayawardene, Chamara Silva, Angelo Mathews, Thissara Perera, Suraj Randiv, Nuwan Kulasekera, Lasith Malinga, Muttiah Muralidaran. 12th man: Chamara Kapugedera.
