Former Sri Lankan cricketer Naveed Nawaz is set to be appointed as the assistant coach of Sri Lanka national team.

Nawaz was the head coach of the Bangladesh U-19 team. He resigned from his post in early April.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) appointed Nawaz as the head coach of U-10 team back in July 2018 for a two-year contract; however, he was subsequently rewarded one more year after his success in the 2020 ICC U-19 World Cup in South Africa.

According to foreign media, Nawaz received an early release from the BCB to join the Sri Lankan national team as the assistant coach.

News reports quoted a source as saying that his contract had a clause of three-month notice period but has been relieved earlier.
