Nintendo 64 Emulator Available on Xbox One Games Store

Following a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) emulator that was to be available for the Xbox One, only to be pulled at the last minute, it seems that a Nintendo 64 emulator can be purchased on the Xbox One storefront.

Win64e10 is available for Windows 10 PC, Windows Phone, and now features Xbox One compatibility with its latest update. It is a modified variant of another emulator, Mupen64plus. It highlights glaring holes in Microsoft’s certification process yet again.

Give how protective Nintendo are of its intellectual property, it will be interesting to see how long it exists on the Xbox One storefront. More so considering how it removed 500 fan made games in a single week from Game Jolt.

“Certain material posted on the website located at gamejolt.com infringes copyrights owned by Nintendo. This notice is provided pursuant to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 USC § 512,” the notice provided by Game Jolt said. 

It then goes on to name the properties being infringed upon – Mario, Zelda and Pokemon among others – providing links to every single game hosted on the website.

One of those games is Another Metroid 2 Remake (AM2R). The developer, Milton Guasti, had already received a notice earlier in the year, and development had become “private” since then. Now, he seems to have thrown in the towel.

“Nintendo of America, Inc. has filed a takedown request under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA),” Guasti said in a new blog post. “I received the request on my personal email, so I’m complying with their requests.”
