Gunaratnam not wanted by the law, merely deported

Premakumar Gunaratnam was not wanted by the law and would not have been allowed to leave the country if he was, Police spokesman SP Ajith Rohana stated.

He also stated that despite a complaint been made regarding his disappearance, initial investigations did not reveal any evidence of an abduction.

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that Gunaratnam had violated immigration laws and was merely deported from the country.

Furthermore it added that he had been in Sri Lanka illegally for over five months.
