Geeganagamage Amarasiri also known as “Julampitiya Amare” alleged to be involved in the Katuwana killings was ordered to be imprisoned until July 11 by the Tangalle High Court today (June 20).

The suspect surrendered to the High Court yesterday through an attorney for a warrant issued for his arrest concerning a murder which occurred in 2003.

He is also suspected in having a hand in the Katuwana shooting which caused the deaths of two persons. The suspect stated in court today that he has been receiving death threats and requested the court to imprison him instead of remanding him.

The High Court ordered that the suspect be imprisoned until July 11 and for the police to present him for an identification parade on June 29 at the Walasmulla Magistrate Court.
