Central Province Health Minister arrested

Health Minister of the Central Province, Sunil Amaratunga, has been arrested on charges of assaulting a doctor, police spokesman said today.

The Provincial Health Minister was arrested by Kandy Police and will be produced before court today, SP Ajith Rohana said.

Earlier today doctors in the Central Province launched a trade union action in protest to the assault and demanded the immediate arrest of the Central Province Minister.
