UNP MP Dayasiri Jayasekera told Ada Derana that he will resign from parliament in order to contest for the North Western Provincial election from the UPFA.

Speculation was rife that the UNP MP was to crossover to the government after reliable sources confirmed that he was to meet with the President today.

A special discussion between United National Party (UNP) leader Ranil Wickramasinghe and Kurunegala District MP Dayasiri Jayasekara was held on July 19 at party headquarters – Sirikotha at which the MP had reportedly assured the party that he would not be crossing over.
