Weerasumana Weerasinghe appointed Southern Province Minister

The Communist Party has decided to nominate its elected candidate Weerasumana Weerasinghe for the vacant Ministerial portfolio of the Southern Provincial Council.
Chandima Rasaputhra, U.D. Ariyathilaka and D.V. Upul took oaths as Ministers of the Southern Provincial Council in a ceremony yesterday while it was decided that the remaining ministerial portfolio would be awarded to the Communist Party.
Therefore the central committee of the Communist Party met this morning and decided to appoint Weerasumana Weerasinghe, who was elected to the Southern Provincial Council after contesting from the UPFA ticket, as the Provincial Minister.
