Malaka Silva, the son of controversial Minister of Public Relations and Public Affairs Mervyn Silva, has been hospitalised after allegedly being assaulted by an individual, police said.

The assault incident had taken place at around 3.00am today (01) at a nightclub in Duplication Road, Colombo.

Malaka Silva has reportedly been admitted to a hospital with minor injuries.

No suspects have been arrested over the incident so far while police are conducting an investigation.

Silva was involved in a similar incident in July last year when he was admitted to the Nawaloka hospital following an attack at the car park of a popular clothing store in Town Hall, Colombo.

He was allegedly attacked with a sharp object and was rushed to hospital soon afterwards.
