Deputy Minister Premalal Jayasekara arrested over Kahawatta shooting

Deputy Minister of Power and Energy Premalal Jayasekara has been arrested in connection with the recent fatal shooting incident in Kahawatta, police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said. 

He stated that the Deputy Minister was arrested in Aluthgama last night. 

On January 5, the Pelmadulla Magistrate issued an arrest warrant on Jayasekara over his alleged involvement in the shooting incident at a venue of an election rally of the Common Candidate in Kahawatta, Ratnapura.

A political supporter, who was engaged in decorating the election stage, was wounded in the shooting and succumbed to injuries in hospital on Thursday (8).
