Elections for Maritimepattu and Pudukuduirippu Pradeshiya Sabhas in the Mullaittivu District will be held on the 28th of February, Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya said.

Local government polls for the Pudukuduirippu Pradeshiya Sabha and the Maritimepattu Pradeshiya Sabha were not be held on October 8, 2011 due to a court order.

The Appeal Court issued an injunction order preventing the elections after considering a petition filed by two refugees residing at the Menik Farm.
