The girl who was sentenced to two years in prison for scribbling on the Sigiriya Mirror wall and later given a Presidential pardon, has been released by the Anuradhapura Prison this morning.

Sinnathambi Udayasri, a 27-year old garment factory worker from Batticaloa, had remained at the prison despite being granted a presidential pardon on April 02 due to the delay in authorities receiving the order in writing.

However, she was released today after prison officials had received the order.

Udayasri had visited the Sigiriya rock on February 14 with friends and was arrested after she scribbled her name on the Mirror Wall using a sharp object.

She was sentenced to 2 years in prison after being produced at the Dambulla Magistrate’s Court.
